DJS UNITE TO SUPPORT MENTAL HEALTH CHARITY SAMH AND HOSPITALITY WORKERS
This Saturday, (23rd of May) dance music promoters Colours and Radisson RED Glasgow will join forces with some of the UK’s finest DJs and very special guest author Irvine Welsh for the Colours House Party; a 10 hour live stream to raise awareness of Mental Health Awareness Week and funds for SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health) and Hospitality Health, who offer mental health support to those working within Scottish Hospitality Industry.
The Colours House Party will see a stellar lineup of DJs which includes author Irvine Welsh, Superstar DJ Judge Jules, Radio 1’s Arielle Free and house music heavyweight Mark Knight live stream their DJ sets from 12pm – 10pm. Throughout the virtual event viewers will have the opportunity to donate and interact with the DJs who will be streaming live from the Radisson RED Sky Bar (in line with the Governments COVID-19 guidance with strict social distancing in place) and around the country for the 10 hour music marathon.

Colours promoter Ricky Magown said: ‘Mental Health Awareness week seemed the perfect opportunity to rally the Colours family to spread some positivity and raise funds for two amazing organisations. We have chosen SAMH and Hospitality Health as our charity partners for the Colours House Party as they provide invaluable mental health support to the people of Scotland and those working within the Scottish Hospitality Industry, which has been hit particularly bad by the COVID-19 crisis.’
Graham Chalmers from Radisson RED Glasgow said: ‘We’re really excited to be involved with such a worthwhile project. The health, safety and wellbeing of our guests and employees come above everything else, and we’re thrilled to play a part in raising awareness of Mental Health Week and raising funds for these invaluable causes. Celebrating music, arts and culture is reflected in the Radisson RED brand and we look forward to providing some much-needed fun and entertainment from our rooftop Radisson RED Sky Bar.’

Wellbeing Support in Scotland
Hospitality Health have been working throughout lockdown to provide Wellbeing support to the Scottish Hospitality industry which is one of the industries which has been hit hardest by the COVID-19 crisis. Hospitality Health Trustee Gordon McIntyre said: ‘What a tremendous idea to have a music event supporting mental health, during this Mental Health awareness week. Music is such an important part of the wide hospitality industry and it is such a supportive mechanism in people’s wellbeing. We are delighted that Colours and Glasgow Radisson Red have chosen us, as one of the charities for this live stream.”
DJing for Free to spread awarenss of mental health
All the DJs involved with the event were happy to donate their DJing skills to help raise awareness of mental health and funds for the two charities.
Irvine Welsh said: ‘Music can bring us together and get us through tough times. The isolation of the Covid-19 era can put more stresses on mental health. Let’s stick together and party together.’
Radio 1 DJ Arielle Free is looking forward to helping people feel good during lockdown: ‘Scotland’s electronic music scene has always been a melting pot of good vibes so it is great to be a part of a line up that’s going to get people raving and feeling good in lockdown. The fact that the festival will be raising funds and awareness for mental health charities is the ultimate good vibe and so important. I’m really looking forward to being involved.’
